This ganglion is located behind the nose.
Sphenopalatine ganglion block indications
1. Sphenopalatine neuralgia
2. Migraine and cluster headaches(cluster)
3. Unspecified pink pains(Atypical facial pain)
4. Shingles involving the ophthalmic branch of the trigeminal nerve(Herprs zoster ophthalmicus)
5. Trigeminal neuralgia(Trigeminal neuralgia)
The block of this ganglion may be done initially through the nose and with local anesthetic, and if a suitable response is observed, it can be done in the next stage by RF for a longer period.
To perform this procedure, it is necessary to use a fluoroscope to ensure the correct position of the needle tip.
It does not require anesthesia and is performed only with local anesthesia.
